Ono, Bloody Hell
I don't understand Yoko Ono at all. She's done some bizarre things over the years but this latest "art" of hers is too much. She's put John's bloody clothes and glasses on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame annex in NYC. Being a lifelong Beatles fan (especially John), I only see this as morbid and brings up the question, why? Why would anyone who loved John want to be reminded of why he's no longer with us? This "art" is only celebrating John's death, not his life. And it's bringing more attention to the scumbag who took John's life. We know how John was killed and it was devastating to the fans who loved him. We don't need it shoved in our faces yet again. Yoko claims that this bring attention to gun control. I don't see it. The only attention this is going to bring is that there are psychopaths out there and there will ALWAYS be psychopaths out there. Yes, we need gun control, no question about it. But looking at John's bloody clothing and glasses is not going to accomplish this, in my opinion. It's only going to bring back the horrible memories of that day so long ago when a man wanted to become a "somebody" instead of the nobody that he was and shot our John in the back. A nobody low-life scumbag who murdered a beautiful man for the fame. A REAL nowhere man. Mission accomplished. Every time I listen to one of John's songs, I'm reminded of why he's no longer with us, giving us new songs. I don't need a disgusting reminder of John's blood-soaked clothing and blood-spattered glasses. Looking at these items only brings back bad memories, not good ones. Yoko has gone too far this time. The only thing that's saved her from my complete disgust is the fact that she's given us some of John's music that we would never have had otherwise. She also saved Mendips for the fans. For that, she deserves applause. And I truly believe that John loved her. However, I don't believe she ever loved him. I believe she loved what he could do for HER, but that's it. Taking up with another man so soon after John's death should have proved that. Sure, some will say that people grieve in different ways but I don't begin to understand her way of grieving and never will. And I can't or won't, for one second, believe that John would be enjoying this public display of morbid humiliation. He's being denied his dignity, even in death.
