Handwritten Lyrics to All You Need Is Love up for auction
Lennon's Handwritten Lyrics On Auction Block POSTED: 12:04 pm PDT June 20, 2005 LONDON -- If the handwritten lyrics for the classic Beatles song "All You Need is Love" is all you need to complete your collection of John Lennon memorabilia, then you're going love this opportunity. Other items going up for sale include a tunic thought to have inspired the costumes on the "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" album cover, an oil painting by Lennon from his student days and a bedspread from Lennon's Montreal "bed-in" for peace with Yoko Ono. Cooper Owen, the auction house handling the sale expects it could raise $2 million. The auction will take place at The Hippodrome nightclub in central London. Lennon was 40 when he was shot dead by Mark David Chapman outside his and Ono's brownstone apartment building in New York on Dec. 8, 1980. Distributed by Internet Broadcasting Systems, Inc.
